Repairing the past: The political conditions that have determined the advance in symbolic reparation in the post-violence contexts of Argentina and Peru
Keywords:

The post-violence contexts in South America demonstrated the importance of transitioning to a democratic scenario that focuses on promoting transitional justice. Symbolic reparation was constituted as a central axis of this process by publicly recognizing the collective memories of the victims. This research focuses on analyzing the political conditions that have determined the differentiated progress in the implementation of symbolic reparation mechanisms in the post-dictatorship context in Argentina and the post-conflict context in Peru. These conditions are mainly three: the nature of the processes of violence, the profile of the victims and the capacity of family associations in the post-violence context.
