The following article presents a synthesis of the formation and consolidation of social organizations in the town of “Mi Perú” between 1985 and 1994, from its foundation as a housing program and human settlement to its transformation into a town. This development is framed in the end of the historical process of urban expansion in Lima, the Internal Armed Conflict and the economic crisis of the 1980s. An analysis is established from and towards the popular perspective of social organizations, such as community kitchens and neighborhood associations in the face of State intervention, or the interference of subversive groups and the Armed Forces, and their social organization strategies in this context.
