Abstract

The context of the San Marcos University’s Social Photography Workshop (1990-1993) was characterized by the political violence and the military intervention on the campus of the university. This violence became visible both in the clashes between political groups, the police, the military and the terrorist groups, as well as in the daily activities of the university community. The activities of the workshop became an alternative to violence to articulate the discussion among students. This exercise of representation thus became an act of resistance against the dynamics of violence.
