Abstract

Approaching pedagogically the internal armed conflict (CAI) that Peru experienced between the years 1980 and 2000 means a great learning opportunity, due to it concentrates the characteristics of the national reality and its analysis allows the development of critical thinking. This through the recognition of the need to assume an active citizenship, which is not achieved from a purely historical perspective since this implies focusing on the transmission of knowledge and the development of basic cognitive skills. What is required is its approach with a different connotation. This paper proposes the implementation of the Course “Citizenship in Peru and internal armed conflict (1980-2000)” in accordance with the active citizenship approach to guarantee the formation of authentic citizens who assume their duties and rights in a committed way, that promote democratic coexistence and that demonstrate an intercultural conviction.
