Abstract

This article analyzes how Fujimorismo, a political movement historically led by Alberto Fujimori, regained relevance as a representative actor in Peruvian politics following the 2006 general elections. This resurgence was primarily a consequence of the former president’s actions after his arrest in Chile in November 2005. The sequence of events led Fujimori’s political groups –Cambio 90, Nueva Mayoría, and Sí Cumple– to unify in pursuit of this objective, marking the beginning of a generational transition from Alberto Fujimori to Keiko Fujimori.
