Violence, memory and geographical perception of the Sacsamarca landscape during the Internal Armed Conflict (1980-2000)
Keywords:
Memory, Landscape, Violence, Environmental perception, Internal Armed ConflictAbstract
This article analyzes the environmental and ecological changes that occurred in the high Andean landscape of Sacsamarca, before, during, and after the Internal Armed Conflict (CAI) in Ayacucho. Through a review of bibliographical sources and the use of ethnographic practices, it was possible to examine how political violence altered the pastoral space of the Sacsamarca community, affecting their agro-pastoral practices and the way in which they perceive their territory. The article seeks to approach the study of memory from a spatial perspective, through the geography of perception. This spatial analysis offers a new interpretation of the socio-ecological changes that affected Andean landscapes and communities during the CAI.
