Abstract

Sacsamarca (Ayacucho, Peru) was one of the communities affected by the Peruvian Internal Armed Conflict. In 2013, the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru signed a partnership with Sacsamarca, as part of its university social responsibility practice. Warmikunawan workshops were born as part of such partnership aiming to strengthen trust among Sacsamarca women and self-recognition of their abilities through art crafting. Warmikunawan workshops were facilitated by a PUCP´s volunteering team and accompanied by the university´s Social Responsibility Academic Direction. The article presents how art makes possible the transit to collective action and how Warmikunawan has strengthened senses of care, Sacsamarcabelonging, agencies and participative processes.
