Abstract

The Memory of the Missing project was created by the Peruvian Forensic Anthropology Team (EPAF for its acronym in Spanish) in 2002, with the purpose of recovering antemortem data of the victims of forced disappearances and kidnappings through contact with relatives to recover information vital for identification by way of the memories of the lives of their loved ones. Without such antemortem data, missing persons cannot be identified.
