Abstract

This paper explores the process of elaboration of memories originated by traumatic experiences related to political violence settings. There are two main variables in which it focuses: the narrative memory and the listener of that narrative. To conduct this study, the author analyzes the case of a woman from Ayacucho who was victim of the armed conflict under psychoanalytic theory associated with the construction of discourse. Keeping this in mind, the paper suggests that being able to verbalize the experience is a necessary first step but not a definitive one to the process of m emory construction.
