Article Submission Guidelines

Historia y Cultura is an annual publication of the Museo Nacional de Arqueología, Antropología e Historia del Perú – Ministerio de Cultura. It accepts original articles, in Spanish or English, from national and international researchers on topics related to Peruvian or Latin American history. Articles should be unpublished and stand out for their scientific rigor. The journal also accepts book reviews and notes of academic interest.

The article manuscript must be submitted in Word format and should not exceed 12,000 words, excluding footnotes. Notes accompanying figures and tables, as well as the bibliography, are included within this word limit. Please note that images and tables should form part of the analysis and be referenced in the text; otherwise, their inclusion is not recommended. Authors must include in their manuscript an abstract in both Spanish and English, with a maximum length of 200 words, along with the title and keywords, also in both Spanish and English.

All images accompanying the manuscript must be submitted in JPG or TIFF format, in high resolution (minimum 300 dpi), and must include the source. It is the author’s responsibility to obtain reproduction rights and provide the corresponding information if necessary. Tables accompanying the manuscript must be submitted as PDF files. Images and tables should be titled “figure” or “table,” followed by the corresponding number according to their order of appearance (e.g., figure 1, figure 2, figure 3).

Reviews should not exceed 4 pages, and priority will be given to books published within the last five years. If the book was published earlier, the author may contact the editor to justify the relevance of reviewing it. Regarding the publication of academic notes, we recommend consulting with the editor to define the content and format of submissions.

Historia y Cultura follows The Chicago Manual of Style, specifically the “notes and bibliography” system, which can be consulted at the following link:

Manuscripts not formatted according to these guidelines will be returned to the author for revision.

Authors are asked to attach a personal information form (including full name, email address, institutional affiliation, ORCID, and a brief biographical note), as well as the declaration available at the following link: personal information form and declaration.

The article manuscript and all accompanying files must be sent to the editor (aortegal@cultura.gob.pe) with a copy to (publicacionesmnaahp@cultura.gob.pe). Submissions made until June 2026 will be considered for that year’s edition.
