Guidelines for authors

Arqueológicas is an annual publication of the National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru (Ministry of Culture). It publishes original contributions in Spanish and English by national and international researchers, adopting an interdisciplinary approach to Andean and Amazonian archaeology, historical archaeology, Andean ethnohistory, and related fields (e.g., radiometric dating, paleoenvironmental studies, bioarchaeology, ethnobotany). The journal also welcomes articles, reports, posters, book reviews, research notes and obituaries.

Submission, evaluation, editing, and publication are free of charge for authors

In accordance with the journal’s style guide, manuscripts must be submitted in Word format and should not exceed 10,000 words, including abstract, notes, and bibliography. Abstracts in both English and Spanish must not exceed 200 words and must be accompanied by title and keywords in both languages.

All images included in the manuscript must be submitted separately in JPG or TIFF format, in high resolution (minimum 300 dpi), and with their source clearly indicated. Authors are responsible for obtaining reproduction rights and providing all necessary permissions.

Tables must be submitted as PDF files. All images and tables should be labeled as “Figure” or “Table,” followed by their corresponding number in order of appearance (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3).

Book reviews should not exceed 2,000 words. The journal prioritizes reviews of books published within the within the last two years but also accepts those published up to five years earlier.

Reports should not exceed 3,000 words with three figures and one table as maximum. In the case of posters, we suggest communicating with the editor-in-chief to evaluate the content of the submissions.

Authors are kindly requested to include full name, email address, institutional affiliation and ORCID (when available) within the original submission.
