Code of Ethics
Arqueológicas is firmly committed to research and publication ethics. The journal adheres to the principles of the National Code of Scientific Integrity (Concytec, Peru), as well as the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and internationally recognized editorial best practices.
Compliance with these principles ensures that the editorial process is conducted with transparency, impartiality, confidentiality, and responsibility from manuscript submission to publication.
To uphold these ethical principles, Arqueologicas establishes the following responsibilities:
- Editorial Board & Team
The editorial team assesses manuscripts in consultation with the Editorial Board`'s members, who may suggest peer reviewers according to their field of research. The Editorial Team is responsible for maintaining the scientific quality of publications, ensuring compliance with the journal’s editorial policies and style guidelines. Editors are responsible for the integrity of the editorial process and make the final decisions regarding submitted manuscripts.
- Authors
Authors are responsible for the content of their manuscripts, including quality, and accuracy of citation practices, as well the legal rights to publish any submitted material. They are also responsible for obtaining permission to use figures, tables, or any other material protected by copyright. Authorship should be based on contributions to the conception and design of the research; data collection and processing, analysis and interpretation; and the writing of the manuscript.
Co-authorship must be based on collaboration among at least two authors throughout the research process. To define authorship contributions, roles should be clearly identified, such as conceptualization, data management, formal analysis, funding acquisition, investigation, methodology, project administration, resources, software, supervision, validation, visualization, writing (original draft), and final editing, following the CRediT taxonomy (e.g. https://credit.niso.org).
- Reviewers
Must conduct evaluations according to ethical standards, using objective and unbiased language. They are expected to provide observations and comments on manuscripts and to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all submitted materials. Information contained in manuscripts under review must not be disclosed or shared.
In this way, Arqueológicas reaffirms its adherence to national and international ethical standards, ensuring the credibility, transparency, and reliability of its published content.
Conflict of Interest
For the proper conduct of the review process, both authors and reviewers must promptly disclose any real or potential conflict of interest that may compromise the submission and/or evaluation of research. If such a conflict arises, it must be communicated to the journal.
Commitment Against Misconduct
To ensure academic integrity and prevent plagiarism, Arqueológicas declares that:
The editorial team verifies the originality of all manuscripts.
Similar detection of ongoing tools and cross-checks with existing sources will be used to identify possible plagiarism or duplicate content.
If irregularities are detected, the article will be rejected, and the author will be notified for correction or eventual retraction.
These measures ensure that published works uphold the principles of originality, academic rigor, and ethical research.
About Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Arqueológicas considers that AI may be used only for complementary aspects related to manuscript preparation, e.g., language editing, style correction, or bibliographic support. The journal does not allow the use of AI to formulate arguments, draft complete sections of a manuscript, process information or data, or conduct substantive content review or interpretation.
If authors use AI tools at any stage of manuscript preparation, such use must be transparently declared, specifying how and where the tool was used. Reviewers must not use AI tools to review confidential manuscripts or to generate peer review reports.
