About the Journal

With nearly seven decades of research and the publication of 34 issues, Arqueológicas is the iconic journal of the National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru.

Given the significance of its published contributions, Arqueológicas has, over time, established itself within the scholarly community as an essential reference source among libraries and universities in Peru and abroad.

The objective of Arqueológicas is to publish original research with an interdisciplinary approach to Andean and Amazonian (neotropical) archaeology, historical archaeology, Andean ethnohistory, and other related specialties (e.g., radiometric dating, paleoclimatology, bioarchaeology, ethnobotany). Arqueológicas is aimed at students and professionals in the social sciences and related disciplines.

Nowadays, Arqueológicas presents a new format, a renewed editorial team, and a distinguished national and international Editorial Board. The journal seeks not only to continue its prestigious trajectory and longstanding status as a reference publication, but also to align itself with high-impact scientific journals and indexing systems.
